Discover how the final teachings of Jesus can give you hope and inspiration in a world full of turmoil.

Are you disheartened by senseless suffering and violence? Are you a Christian searching for encouraging guidance? Pastor Daniel Sweet and author Andrew Gilmore understand your struggle. After helping thousands find encouragement through the gospel message, they've teamed up to help you weather this troubled world and rediscover your faith.

The Last Lessons of Christ is a powerful guide to help you be a light in the darkness and renew your convictions. At a time when so many Christians seem to have resigned themselves to despair or apathy, it is useful to remember that Jesus taught something radically different.

On the road to Jerusalem for the last time before his crucifixion, Jesus used every precious second he had left to prepare his disciples for his absence. Whether by miracle, object lesson, or parable, Jesus focused on one thing faith. In contrast to the watered down version of faith we see in mass media throughout Western culture, Jesus taught that faith can move mountains.

Listen to The Last Lessons of Christ to rediscover the type of faith Jesus taught his own disciples!

"I received an ARC [Advance Reader’s Copy] in a Mobi.file format from the author[s] through a giveaway he[they] had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.
If I would have to think about something which would epitomize the message Pastor Daniel Sweet and author Andrew Gilmore want to communicate to the readers of this book, it would have to be the hymn of “Amazing Grace.”
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
As we get older and are faced with the day to day ever-increasing harried world we force to exist in, we become increasingly discouraged by the ridiculous misery and carnage around us. We are therefore seeking answers or at least something which would be able to help us of our suffering. As children to gain knowledge about things at school we had our teachers, and at home we had our parents who also taught us about life.

The answer as you who we can turn these days when our lives are fraught with all the inequalities and heartaches the world is suffering from. I believe great deal of this answer can be found in PSALM 20:1 [ESV]

May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

With this in mind we need to remember that one of the greatest teachers that has ever existed is the Lord himself. We need to turn to him to receive the lessons which will give us the answers which we so desperately need, answers are located in his words that are written in the Bible. And in order for us to find and understand these lessons, we need to find ourselves individuals who are adequately prepared to help guide us through and teach us these lessons.

I believe in this book written by Pastor Daniel Sweet and author Andrew Gilmore that we’ve found the experienced teachers we’re searching for; as they’ve already taught countless others like ourselves the gospel messages we desire to acquire. The main lesson of which is FAITH, the same kind of faith the Lord himself had during the remaining precious moments of his life.

For giving their readers viable, inspiring allegories, pertinent examples and their own personal stories to communicate these lessons, they’ve been given 5 STARS for their book."

  • When Jesus Christ announced that he would suffer and die in Jerusalem, his twelve disciples not only questioned that but needed valuable final lessons from the Lord to be equipped to spread the gospel of God's plan with mankind across the world. In The Last Lessons of Christ Living by Faith in an Age of Despair, Daniel Sweet & Andrew Gilmore explore ten teachings. From genuine faith and our active role in bringing light to the nations, persistence to the understanding that you can't add anything to God's grace. Religion is not a solution. Faith produces action, it makes the impossible possible. Abandon everything to follow Jesus and remember that his death destroyed darkness. Parables, conversations between Jesus and his disciples on the various aspects of faith get a proper exegesis, illustrations from movies, books, and personal reflection added. Just as Jesus needed faith to persevere, resist temptations and fulfill God's assignment, we're called to act accordingly and bring hope where there's despair, light in the darkness, and love where hate seems to rule.
  • Much of what Daniel and Andrew say here are the things that I long for in my own life I want my faith to be resilient. I want to speak words that make souls stronger and leave people, places and things better than when I found them. In his Pastoral and grace-filled way, Daniel exposes blind spots that distract us from being the kind of faith-filled Christians he writes about and challenges us to become.
I would characterize the book as meaty. While easily read, it is one you want to take time to chew on and digest. This book is written in a way that would make it an excellent choice to use in a small group weekly study! The authors combine Scripture with illustrations from their personal lives and church ministries into a thought-provoking book that will challenge and encourage your life!
This book was such a reminder not to gauge my faith & hope on anything more than or less than Jesus and His Word. I love Daniel’s writing. He is genuine, wise and a trustworthy interpreter of scripture. I have read Andrew’s books before and he has always shown a great comprehension of scripture and knowledge on each subject God has placed in his care. I highly recommend “The Last Lessons of Christ Living by Faith in an Age of Despair.”
  • I have read Andrew Gilmore's books for some time now. I received a copy from Andrew and I will testify that "The Last Lessons of Christ" doesn't let the reader down.

What Andrew Gilmore and Daniel Sweet have done is a 'just right' job of elaboration on some important lessons from the teachings of Jesus. They expand the thoughts and original conveyance of sentiment in the parables/lessons with reference to other lessons (other words of Jesus), anecdotes, personal experience, and most of all---humility. They approach the lessons with a balance of authority and shepherdship as authors---not too academic or expository, but not too shallow. Each of the lessons of Christ in this book is the perfect amount of sustenance to digest for the reader.

I must also stress that I love how they've chosen to highlight faith as the pinnacle of our spiritual life/lens/legacy. They demonstrate how faith is the main ingredient, the foundation for this upside-down Kingdom of God's that we live in. It moves the lessons from simply 'a good theory' to pushing the reader to put them into practice. The book enables the reader to turn the corner with life-application, as they address how much so our faith can overcome darkness.

I grew up a pastor's son, so I struggle to reread the same Gospel lessons and parables and stay focused. It may be of importance, in that context, to say I truly appreciated the read---it embellished and reinforced many things for me, strengthened the very faith the authors key in on throughout the entire work. I am grateful for this book.
